Example: Chicago Data Viewer
The Chicago Data Viewer (CDV) app was my contribution to open government in Chicago
and data visualization for BIG Data Week (May 5-11, 2014). CDV is an interactive digital
media website showcasing select data visualizations using various dataset from the the City
of Chicago open-gov initiative data portal located at MetroChicagoData.org. Map were built using ArcGIS Online.

Example: Using Dojo Layout Widgets
The Chicago Crime Viewer uses the Dojo layout dijits (widgets) to create a layout where the center container
is split into three regions (left, right and center) with the map displayed in the center.
The Chicago Crime Viewer sample displays a map generated using the ArcGIS.com map viewer. The map's author used the tools in the map viewer to:
- Select a basemap;
- Add operational layers;
- Define an initial map extent; and
- Create popup windows

The Chicago River Viewer displays a map generated using the ArcGIS.com map viewer Public Information Application template.
This is a fully configurable public facing mapping application that highlights areas through authoritative data feeds and social content.
